Let’s Get This Show on the Road!

The only times I can think of that I was EVER happy to see my period is
When I thought I was pregnant and
During surrogacy
And there are only 2 times I’m ever nervous when I DON’T see my period. See above.
The reproductive specialist advised that I should cycle about 2 weeks after starting the Lupron shots. I had hit the 3 week mark before I began to worry. In recent years, I’ve been transitioning to a more natural way of living depending on natural remedies. The nurse reassured me that sometimes the Lupron works too well and suppresses the period. I began drinking parsley and ginger tea as a natural way to induce it. I made an appointment for them to draw blood and measure my hormone levels to determine whether I had ovulated yet. Also, an ultrasound to check my lining. If I had ovulated and had thick lining, the office would induce my period. If the lining was thin, we’d start the next set of meds and go from there. Of course this is a day by day situation. And, as expected, it started THE DAY I was scheduled to go in. Without giving TMI, there was enough to say it was more than spotting, but not as much as my usual flow. I’m ready to get this show on the road, so I called to cancel.
“I knew this would happen” the nurse gloated.
She swiftly emailed the next protocol - daily instructions for taking my medicine. This is where it gets fun… and by fun I mean detailed and sometimes confusing. Did I take my pill today? How many patches do I put on? Is it time to shove that gel up my whoohah yet? Not sure how I kept up with it all last time. This go round I posted the sheet on my cabinet to reference on a daily basis.

Lupron
dose dropped to half
Baby Aspirin
Increases blood flow
Estradiol patches
This is estrogen meant to build up my uterine lining to provide the best cushion possible for implantation. They increase from one to four over the course of the next few weeks as we approach the transfer.

Oh yeah...
WE HAVE A TRANSFER DATE!
Ok, this is going to sound a lot like a math problem but bear with me.
We were waiting so intently on my period to pinpoint Day 1 again
~ September 24th
According to the natural cycle, women ovulate on or around day 14
~ October 5th
The embryo was fertilized in the lab and allow to grow for 5 days.
If that embryo was conceived naturally it would implant in mom’s uterus around Day 21 ~ October 12th
And that folks is how we got our date!
I personally don’t think we will transfer on that date. I don’t think my lining will be ready. But that’s just me pontificating…Hopefully I’m wrong!
Watch my entire morning routine here!
