Just a few of the names I've been called during since I've been a surrogate. Well, you can add PERFECT to that list!
(Read about the time I was told I had Beautiful Uterus)
Typically if a fertilized egg does not reach the uterus, the lining discharges in the form of a period. Today is lining check to determine if my uterine lining is thick enough to support a pregnancy. The doctor would like me at 8mm. The ultrasound showed me at 8.5mm.
'You are Perfect! As usual… Your body is just the perfect home for this."
“Let’s go do this transfer right now!” I exclaimed.
Not so fast. I have to undergo the next phase of fertility meds. Estrogen helps build up the lining, but progesterone activates receptors that attach to the embryo for implantation. The surrogacy community would call those “sticky thoughts”. A transfer right now would not work because my progesterone levels are too low.

NO more Lupron. YAY! I was beginning to experience headaches as a side effect of that shot. (Watch my video diary here: Side Effects Kicking In)
Estradiol - I'm up to 4 patches
helps grow the lining of the uterus which maintains an early pregnancy
Baby Aspirin
Increasing blood flow
Medrol
A low-dose steroid pill to suppress the autoimmune system from interfering with embryo implantation.
Crinone (Progesterone)
Vaginal gel. Hormone necessary for the preparation of the uterine lining for the implantation of the embryo and the maintenance of early pregnancy.
We are on track for Wednesday! Can’t believe I’ll be pregnant next week!
As I was walking out, the nurse says “It feels like you were just here. What a tremendous blessing you are giving to Melissa.”
As always, I assert, “I’ve heard some birthing horror stories. Fortunately, labor and delivery are easy for me. So, I feel obligated to help someone who can’t do this for themselves.”
I’m definitely not PERFECT. But God’s perfection shines brightly through me....
